In my school I am considering using Ionic columns and creating a space that is open. Having an open space would be important to stimulate dialogue between students and permit natural light in the building. I would design my building on the ideas of the Parthenon. My column choice would be ionic. I chose ionic because it is an elegant column design yet sturdy enough to maintain the weight of a small school. In addition, the acropolis has inspired me by wanting to design a building on top of a hill so that the school could be separated from the general community. This would be important in preventing noise pollution and keeping students safe from crime. These architectural choices are important in creating a good school.

ReplyDeleteI am going to create a temple based on hercules and medusa's temple. It is going to be a dome shaped temple with a garden on both sides. It will have some of the gods includind zeus, posiden, Hermes, Hades and hopefully Athena.It is going to be a gym where they will wrestle, play sports and fence. Our school should be big and have parts of the temple apollo Didyma. Also it should have parts of the temple of Athene Nike.Its going to be kinda big and have a libary in the side like a college school.It also going to have a gate and the entrance.

My school will be unique than any other school before. I think this because it will have many elements or qualities that make it unique. One will be that there will be several small buildings. These buildings will make a circular formation. In the center, there will be a main building slightly bigger than the rest in the very center. This will serve as an auditorium, a place to hold assemblies,and cafeteria. The smallerb surrounding buildings will have doric and corithian columns. I will put these because the doric are more sturdy incase there is a natural disaster or something, and the corithian to look more elegant. I agree with Amelia because I think the 2 stories are a great Idea. I think it’s a good idea because the school would be organized. If it wasn’t organized then classes would be all over the place. Students would get confused. With the classes being downstairs students will know where the classes are. I also think it’s a good idea to make a library because it would be a nice quiet place for students to study. They won’t be distracted by the things next to them.

I agree with James. I agree with James because I would put these classes in the school. I would also put better food in my school and tables too. I am going to create a temple based on Hercules and medusa's temple. It is going to be a dome shaped temple with a garden on both sides. It will have some of the gods including Zeus, Poseidon, Hermes, Hades and hopefully Athena. It is going to be a gym where they will wrestle, play sports and fence. It is going to have pillars with in-depth detail and stairs with the gods names engraved. I hope that I really good grade for this one!!!

I agree with Samuel Clemens because the idea of adding paintings of gods seems like a good idea. It can show ancient history and what the ancient Greeks believed in spiritually. I agree with Alexandra’s team and I do think that you should do it how you explained it. Also it does sound like a good school for kids. Even if they went to your school they might get a good education. Also school is going to have The Temple Apollo Didyma and The Temple of Athena Nike. Especially having a library would let them have some quiet time and also helped them clear their mind
i would like to disagree with Juan Carlos . I disagree with him because I don’t think we should have science because if we only had 3 classes to pick from i would pick important 1 like classes that we can use in our daily life. For example i would put math to count money how much money you have left etc. I would also put PE to be healthy and history because if we would not have learned history we would not know our culture, racist , or how to improve something. you should also have more color not just a simple white school. They learned academic subjects as well and they did have arenas, but still they were not about physical subjects. They wanted to be mentally & phtsically fit. Greeks liked sports a lot because they started the olympics and physical classes. That is why I disagree with Ethan.

I also like the idea of having structures of Lycurgus and Pericles outside to show Ancient Greece culture. There probably should be some modern designs in the school. I disagree with Anthony’s design for his new school. The reason I disagree with him is because it has too much Athenian influence. It does not sound unique at all and he even says it will look like a basic Greek school. Also, it does not have an area for physical education. Even if they did have physical education, it would be dangerous because they have no place to run and if they run to far, they would be going downhill. That is why I disagree with Anthony.

I agree with Justin Davila because he is making a very elegant kind of school. I think these are good choices he is making for example he said that he wanted the school to be on a flat surface for space to play sports. Also, he said that he would make an auditorium for both assemblies and as a cafeteria. He said that his design was very unique and I agree with him he makes his design very elegant and creative.

There are many greek details that I would like to put in my school. One would be Corinthian and Ionic colums. They would be impotant becaus ethey would hold the school up. Also, they would look nice. Another thing i would like to put is an acropolis. The greeks would go to an acopolis for protection so this would be a safe buildng. In addition there could be sculptures in it. Lastly, I would put a building inspired by the Menelaion. It could give the children shade. Also, they could be outside and not get hot. They could also rest there at break. These are the details from greece that I would put in my school.

I would like to agree and disagree with Anthony because when he stated that the acropolis will keep the students focused. Although I’m kind of iffy on when he stated that the students might ditch. I don’t believe they would do that because if they took school and education seriously they wouldn’t bother ditching. In the school my group and I are creating we want sophisticated kids, they don’t get easily distracted, and have no interest of doing something that would affect their learning experience. Crystal, I would like to disagree with your choice because in my opinion the Doric columns are too plain. I would suggest that you put Corinthian columns because they are more creative. They have a lot of pictures and are interesting to look at. Ionic columns are interesting too. They have a great design that would be perfect for a school. In my school I am putting ionic and Corinthian columns.

I would like to agree with Crystal B. because she has a point about when she said” our school is going to be a good sized school with 4 Doric columns in the front and 4 in the back.” The reason I say that is because when there is an earthquake, the Doric poles are strong enough to hold the school. Another reason is because if the school has weak materials for the structure for the buildings, it could collapse and cause many deaths. Also I agree with you because in front and the back of the school, the structure is going to be pretty strong for thunder storms, earthquakes, and other things.
